Travel Playing Time Standards

4th/5th GRADE

The GRYBL policy is that every 4th and 5th Grade player who regularly attends practice will play an average of 50% of each game, with common sense exceptions for fouls, injury, illness, disciplinary issues, etc.  (Injured players who expect to return to play ordinarily are expected to attend practices even if they cannot participate.)*

6th/7th GRADE

The GRYBL policy is that every 6th and 7th grade player who regularly attends practice will play an average of 25% of each game, with common sense exceptions for fouls, injury, illness, disciplinary issues, etc.  (Injured players who expect to return to play ordinarily are expected to attend practices even if they cannot participate.)*

8th GRADE

Though there are no specific guidelines relative to the amount of playing time for 8th Grade travel team players, the GRYBL policy is that every 8th Grade player who regularly attends practice will play in each game, with common sense exceptions for fouls, injury, illness, disciplinary issues, etc.  (Injured players who expect to return to play ordinarily are expected to attend practices even if they cannot participate.)*

*All playing time requirements are based off a 10 person roster regardless of grade level.

Standard clause for all grade levels

The GRYBL specifically requests parents not to address playing time issues with coaches; if there is a significant issue, a parent should communicate directly with the appropriate travel commissioner.
